Me-Time!

In this ultra busy, ultra fast world it is too easy to forget to find time to 'just-be'. You know, to be able to spend some time not trying to get those emails sent off, not trying to get all the shopping done and be home again before the rush hour traffic starts, not trying to find the last bit of space in your diary to write down yet another appointment, not trying to get the kids up and ready for school , feed the dog, see hubby off to work and put the washing on at the same time as getting yourself dressed, washed and speaking to your mother on the phone, all  that multi-tasking the multi tasking! Its enough to make steam come out of your head and your arms get tied up in knots, and that's on a good day!
It is so so hard these days to even find one moment to yourself never mind a day, as there is always that pile of washing to do, that bill to go and pay , that message to do and Im sure you can fill in the blanks with a hundred other things that tend to fill up our everyday lives.  We seem to think that if we don't get them done that day, that hour or even that minute, that the world or at least little bit of it will come crashing down and it will make us a bad person. The media doesn't help dispel that either with all its images of the ultimate ultra organised superwoman that can run a house, hold a high powered job, make all her Christmas and birthday present herself , bake and cook every single thing from absolutely scratch ,be the perfect mum who never loses her rag, always has the patience of a saint with everyone all the time and never gets stroppy, tired stressed,  and still looks like a supermodel who never has a headache come bedtime! I don't know about your but in all my ** years on this planet I have never come across any human being that ! If you know one, please ask them to bottle their secret and send it across the Irish sea as would love just a drop of it!
How can we even keep things going on a basic living basis mentally , emotionally and physically, and give to other if we are prepared and cant find time to give to ourselves?  Scientists and docter's have now concrete evidence that a human performs better on all levels if they are less stressed and tired. How do we achieve this?
We all strive for a perfect work/life balance but very few really achieve it so the best we can do is try and find a bit of time or indeed pencil in on our calendar time when we stop and effectively go on strike, and just do things in that time that will chill out minds, rest or relax our bodies and things which WE want to do, and are just for us. It doesn't have to cost anything either. It can be as simple as going for a walk, sitting in the garden reading a book, going into the countryside for an afternoon, doing some colouring in/art or creative activity, sitting in the garden,g a long soak with some scented bath bubbles with your favourite music on..  Why not go to a local beach [yes even in winter, just put on the layers like an eskimo and you'll be fine! and find some flat pebbles that you can then, the next time you take time out you can paint, or driftwood that then you can stain or varnish up to make an interesting feature for your mantlepiece.  Perhaps take a cheap paintbox and play with colour. It doesn't have to look like anything, just express with the first colours that your brush gravitates towards and see what happens! You are just as important as the world and everyone around you, so if they deserve your time, so do you!
Take moments out of your day and  as they say 'stop for a moment  and smell the flowers!]
