WORDS

I love using quotations, sayings and phrases in my crafting. In fact I use them more than greetings and the usual kind of sentiments you find on a card . Sayings I feel are or can be a more personal thing to put on a card or make of some kind as you can tailor your creations to make them more personal to the person who the item you make is for or for the event or occasion.
Perfect example, if someone if feeling down, you could perhaps use a quotation that is of the kind that says that either things will only get better[ in itself a saying], that people care, that something good is only around the corner or indeed a more spiritual one along the path of God listening to all our problems and always being there to hear, that kind of things. Sayings are also good to describe a feeling that you get from a certain picture or to put on a design for a frame to hang on a wall, something that you can glance at each time you pass it and be reminded of the phrase.  I have even started making up my own sayings going on [ not just re arranging the phrases though] what I have seen on sites, books, and social media pages.
I first started using quotations for my digital crafting/art makes but now if  making a card and  the topper image lends itself to one, I use them then as well. Any card can say happy birthday but  I feel that if a birthday card maybe has a funny quip or a quote on then it makes it that little bit different from the rest.. So I suppose me using sayings and quotation instead of the usual type of occasion greetings has become a bit of a trademark with me.
Another way I use quotations is to help express my thoughts. Sometimes just a couple of words doesn't hack it as far as summing up your mood. If you have 'headstuff' issues like I do, sometimes you cant find one single word to express how you are feeling because a word does not exist but perhaps a saying or quote combined with a the type of colours used will.  When I was very lucky indeed enough to be able to visit Disneyworld a few years back with some brilliant friends of mine, in the course of our trip, I discovered a shop in the Disney Springs part of Disneyworld [unlike the other parts of Disneyworld, you don't have to pay to get into Disney Springs because as well as some attractions it is a big shopping place] called SUGARBOO. For anyone into quotes and sayings, this shop is heaven in a shop as the whole shop is based on quotes. Everywhere you look there are quotes used in the items they sell. Notebooks, big canvasses, signs, quote books, key rings, bags, little slate plaques, pictures, its an aladdins cave for anyone who into sayings. They do have a website so if you get chance check it out. Yes if you order online you do have the postage thing but if you know someone who lives in the states where there is a Disneyworld,or Disneyland, or going on holiday there, what you could do is go on the site, look through and make a list of items you like, then smile sweetly at them and ask them very nicely if they could bring the item you would like back.  Now know such a shop exists , if ever get back there again, I will leave a good amount of space in my case for my Sugarboo purchases as loved the shop.
I have hundreds and hundreds of quotations on my laptop and use them so much in my designs . If would like to see more of the designs I have done using them, just pop along to facebook and go to my crafty page, CreationsByCraftyManxie, and the photo section and loads in there!  x
